The best course of action is not always to re-gild an antique surface of paint once other elements have been applied to the original gilding; sometimes it can be cleaned so that the original finish is once again exposed. It is also possible to restore damage to one section of a frame using new gilding that is made to match the original surface - this is often a viable alternative to stripping and re-gilding the entire surface of the frame. We regard each frame as an individual work or art, and proceeding in this manner assures that the frame retains more of its value, and saves our clients time and money.
In addition to antique frame restoration, we can arrange for the conservation and restoration of your art works. We have an ongoing working relationship with a number of experts in this field, including the renowned Moro Studios - which is located on our building.
